Having seen Gravity and Pompeii recently and been blown away with the cinematography, but not the plot, my faith in story telling movies has been restored. Saving Mr Banks is the best film I have seen for some time. Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as P.L Travers, the author or one of the all time great children’s stories, Mary Poppins. Hanks and Thompson bounce electrically off each other as the great script so brilliantly conveys their problematic working relationship. Also a heart warming performance from Paul Giamatti, who coincidentally was in Saving Private Ryan with Hanks, as Mrs Travers’s driver whilst she was in Burbank, California. A great film about two iconic characters whose collaboration bought about one of the greatest family musicals ever produced. Rated as a 12, put this on your must see movie list.
