What a great day! All those weeks of walking in the rain and the mud might finally be over. When it is cold, Tessa insists on me wearing a coat, which I hate. It does absolutely nothing for my street cred.
Anyway, Tessa finally took me to beach for the first time this year and it was a lovely afternoon. I just didn’t want to go home.
So, when Tessa said “Right! Time to go home!”, I really wasn’t ready, we had only been out for 45 minutes. There were still so many other dogs to tease with my delicious well-chewed and now very sandy tennis ball. So, every time Tessa approached me with the lead, I would stand and watch her, then pick up my ball and run when she got close. It was really good fun. Other people walking their dogs, thought it was very funny.
Unfortunately, the only person that didn’t find it funny was Tessa, who was doing a lot of shouting. After about 20 minutes, we had gathered quite an audience. Other dog owners thought they could tempt me with treats, but I had no intention of coming. Tessa started getting very red in the face, not to mention sweaty as she missed yet another rugby-style tackle, so I thought maybe I ought to let her catch me and I did. The crowd we had attracted, all cheered.
I was frogmarched back to the car, where Tessa gave me another telling off and yes, it is sand on my nose, from trying to bury my ball.
Even though I got a telling off, it has been the best day of the year so far!
