I can’t believe that the iconic movie, Dirty Dancing was released on 12th May 1987. I was a mere baby at the time 😉 passionately in love with Patrick Swayze and consequently very jealous of Francis ‘Baby’ Housman AKA Jennifer Gray. So … it has been thirty years since that iconic lift.
I have been recuperating in The Algarve. Plenty of sunshine, medicinal Rosé and reading a few good books. Live music under the stars on warm, balmy evenings is also incredibly therapeutic.
Live music in The Algarve has always been a big part of my 25-year love affair with the country. We have found Space Jam this year and previously Joe Stevani, but Wendy and Adam Bunny … AKA … Live Music Algarve … are a big part of the local music scene and I cannot imagine coming here and not seeing them.
The music business is a tough one, but if you can find your niche, then you are in it for the long haul. Hard work and determination is key. Having the ability to record stuff in a studio is one thing, but being able to get out there and perform it live is another. Whether you are performing your own music or covering other people’s, you need shedloads of charisma.
Adam and Wendy came from experienced musical backgrounds in the UK, but their bags were packed full of charisma with which they have carved their own musical niche in The Algarve.
They effortlessly cover songs in all genres, entertaining all age groups, from the very young, to the over rosé-d oldies, at any type of venue and at any time of the year.
The reason I mentioned Dirty Dancing at the beginning of this post, is because Wendy and Adam are finishing their 2017 set at Vale do Lobo with Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing. We saw them on Thursday and they are on again on Monday which gives us plenty of time to practice our soon-to-be-iconic lift.
