Well, well, well… so it was the foul Finch after all.

At 9.p.m. last night, I went on Do Not Disturb.  My bedroom door firmly shut and the volume on the TV turned up to watch the finale of Unforgotten, Season 3.

Out of the ’Middenham Four’, Finch was at top of my suspect list as the monster who killed Hayley Reid for quite some time.  Then, after a few red herrings, I couldn’t decide who to point the finger at and started worrying about whether or not DCI Cassie Stewart (Nicola Walker) was going hold it together until she nailed the evil bastard.

A fine performance by Alex Jennings as Finch, who had me quaking in my pyjamas with that stare.  Overall, an excellent cast which included some of my favourite actors who made a great piece of TV drama really come alive; the cast of both Season 1 and 2 also included some of our acting elite.

Unforgotten – Season 3 From left to right.  The dastardly Dr Tim Finch (Alex Jennings), Jamis Hollis (Kevin McNally),  DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar), DCI Cassie Stewart (Nicola Walker), Pete Carr (Neil Morrissey) and Chris Lowe (James Fleet)

The big question now is will there be a Season 4?  Does the writer, Chris Lang have a Season 4 up his sleeve (there are a few spoilers going around)?  Or will Cassie disappear off into the sunset with retired DCI John Bentley and ex- Monarch of the Glen (Alastair MacKenzie), which would make way for a promotion for DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) to round up the killers of any unsolved murders that Dr  Finch didn’t commit.  But… Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar are such a good fit.

Whether or not we will see the double act of Stewart and Khan bringing the perpetrators of historical crimes to justice in a Season 4, Unforgotten Seasons 1, 2 and 3 are up there with the TV dramas I am unlikely to forget.
