The Secret Lives of The Doyenne of Didsbrook is a murder mystery spoof. The sleepy market town of Didsbrook is thrown into turmoil after the town’s most flamboyant resident, the much-loved actress turned best-selling novelist, Jocelyn Robertshaw, is found dead.
I originally wrote this as a short story called An Honest Review, which was longlisted in a competition at the beginning of 2019. I’d had so much fun writing it, I carried on! This excerpt is taken from the interaction between my main character, Lucy Fothergill, her mother and the bumbling DCI, Humphrey Middleton who has been assigned to the case.
