Music to Heal the Troubled Mind

Depression can strike individuals at any age and sufferers from this debilitating illness come from all walks of life.
One young musician, Leeds-based Rock/Alternative multi-instrumentalist, Aiden Hatfield, openly suffers from depression. He believes he wouldn’t be alive if music wasn’t a part of his life. He has played in bands since he was 13, but today, he goes solo. His debut single, THIS IS NEVER ENDING, is released today.

The Power of Qigong

When I closed my eyes, there was chaos.  A whirlpool of my life flashing like a technicoloured LED advertising board, down to what was on my shopping list and what I was going to cook for supper.

COUNTDOWN TO KESWICK – Sorel Point to Devil’s Hole and back

We are so lucky in Jersey to have such wonderful walks on our doorstep.

COUNTDOWN TO KESWICK

My own Hiker’s Guide to the Lake District, features short, flat walks and frequent sightings of quaint, pretty little pubs dotted along the path.

Finding Peace of Mind: Feeling the Qi

I embraced Qi Gong, welcoming it into my world like a lost childhood friend.

Beware of what Lurks in the Sand

You never know what’s lurking in tropical sand.

The Sciatic Life

Despite the appealing thought of not having to cut the grass myself and being provided with free manure for the roses,  I throw on a pair of wellies and organise a one-woman Bonanza-style roundup.

What a Nerve!

My bed had morphed into the most uncomfortable place on earth and I couldn’t sit down either.

A Deliciously Productive Day

I might fantasize about being the fourth Blonde Plotter but, for now, I feel like d’Artagnan in awe of the Three Musketeers as my novel is-still-in-progress.

Unfit for Travel

12 months ago, I started counting the days until I returned to the one place in the world that I would happily call my home.  The place where, for so many years, I have dithered about permanently leaving the UK for, The Algarve.  It may well happen. I spent […]

Zhineng Qigong, Three Treasures, Weekend Workshop – Jersey – 10th-12th August 2017

The good news for Jersey is that Pam White is hosting a Qigong Weekend Workshop, Three Treasures, at The Barn, Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club, Hougue Bie during the weekend of 12th/13th August 2017. She has invited both invited Qigong teachers from China, Lu and Ling, who both trained and worked with Grandmaster Dr. Pang Ming and they will be teaching Zhineng Qigong classes during the weekend, which will also include healing sessions, talks, and demonstrations.

Designer Vaginas

But … yahoo.com reporting that girls as young as 9 are asking the NHS to perform labiaplasty surgery has … just about … left me speechless.  Bought up on a farm in rural Gloucestershire, I had no idea what a vagina was at 9. I think my mother probably referred to it as something else :), but there were far more interesting things for me to be doing at 9 than peering at my vagina.  I wasn’t a contortionist anyway and I haven’t a hope in hell of getting down there now, but having my labia tweaked has never entered my mind at any stage of my life.

You would have a field day with me Mr Freud …

I suffer from Arachnophobia
at the best of times … in fact anything with a 8 legs and a plump, hairy abdomen and I’m off. So, why would I dream about a tarantula crawling across my face and open mouth?

FEELING THE QI

For the unenlightened Qigong – alternative spelling schi gung or chi kung – is: … an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. The word Qigong (Chi Kung) is made up of two Chinese words. Qi is pronounced chee and is usually […]

Steroid Euphoria

At the beginning of 2017, I was dragging myself around like a 100 year old tortoise. My daily regime had become pathetic. I would lie in bed until almost midday when, guilt ridden, I would rouse myself. I would eventually give in to my dog’s pleading I really, really want to go for a walk now look and amble up the road and back. The rest of the day would spend doing chores in between lying down on the bed or sofa and I didn’t want to talk to a soul.
