Humour is so subjective. What tickles my funny bone, may not float your boat. Slapstick, Deadpan, Self-Deprecating, Topical, Satire, Black or Surreal? There are many sidesplitting sinkholes for me and my rom-com to disappear into.
I hope the organisers of the 2017 Jersey Festival of Words allowed themselves a large gin and tonic last night after this amazing 5-day festival drew to a close; they certainly had cause to celebrate. I said in my blog of 27th September 2017 that getting on and off […]
In a world where our history is defined by men, this is an account that is long overdue.
I might fantasize about being the fourth Blonde Plotter but, for now, I feel like d’Artagnan in awe of the Three Musketeers as my novel is-still-in-progress.
The gorgeous Tom Burke as Strike and Holliday Grainger as his equally gorgeous partner-in-solving-crimes, Robin Ellacott. They smolder so well on-screen together you can see virtual steam coming out the TV.
One of life’s truly great men, cut down in his prime and those in power today should make sure his dream is kept alive.
I’ve been pussyfooting around this passion of mine for too long and now I feel like I am writing for my life.
As our Lost Blogs video collection starts to grow, we have created a page for them. If you haven’t seen any of our videos yet, view the short snippet below which gives you a clue as to what they might be about … but, always expect the unexpected. […]
Happy Wednesday. I’m getting excited about going on my annual holiday next week and took an hour or so today to reflect on what a huge impact travelling has had on my life and this short vid is the outcome. I have no regrets about spending my hard […]
The good news for Jersey is that Pam White is hosting a Qigong Weekend Workshop, Three Treasures, at The Barn, Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club, Hougue Bie during the weekend of 12th/13th August 2017. She has invited both invited Qigong teachers from China, Lu and Ling, who both trained and worked with Grandmaster Dr. Pang Ming and they will be teaching Zhineng Qigong classes during the weekend, which will also include healing sessions, talks, and demonstrations.
I have reached the point of no return and I am terrified. I want to cry. I want to run away from it. I want to read Stephen King’s On Writing … again … on a desert island with no interruptions, because I seem to have forgotten everything he said.
It has been an arduous climb to almost being at the tip of the iceberg. Fuelled by obsession, an overwhelming need to releave my burgeoning brain from its burdon of carrying around 80,000 words of excess baggage for too many years.
I look out of my window every morning and I thank the Universe for listening to me.
It is amazing what a couple days spent with like minded people can do for you. I feel like like my system has been rebooted and I have had to find a bigger box for my writer’s tools. Between Friday evening and lunch time today 10 of us […]
Really looking forward to welcoming Barbara Large and Adrienne Dines to Jersey this weekend.
In light of recent events, women around the world should reach out to each other and find an inner strength in that solidarity. One day that strength will guide us to finding a peaceful solution to the threat the world currently faces … through education.
Where better to find like-minded women than to support the month-long multi-disciplinary 2017 Women and War Festival which examines the impact of war on women. Now in its second year the Women and War: EXODUS will focus on displacement and refugeeism and will celebrate the lives of exceptional women throughout the years through theatre, music, dance, art, film, performance, poetry, craft, cuisine and comedy.
We live in violent times. When we turn on the news and are inundated with horrific events, it feels like a punch in the gut. We feel ordinary, helpless, and without hope. Some become angry while others spiral downward in various levels of depression. One person can’t change […]
Cassie The Blog Dog and I have just been for a walk. Cassie to burn off some her exuberant joie de vivre and me to burn off the calories and the after effects of last night’s plummy little Merlot. The sun was out, albeit a watery glow in the sky. I walked and she tore through the fields like a gazelle about to go into orbit. She is a joy to watch and I wish I had an nth of her va va voom.
If you have partially finished or have completed your manuscript, you could book a one-to-one appointment with a leading literary agent, commissioning editor or an author at The University of Winchester Writers’ Festival. They will offer constructive criticism on your work-in-progress, discuss publishing/marketing possibilities and invaluable advice.
“There is no such thing as an ‘aspiring writer’. You are a writer. Period.” Matthew Reilly, Area 7 I agree with Matthew Reilly’s words of wisdom from his novel Area 7 to a degree, but you have to aspire to succeed and to succeed you need confidence. […]
