Here are a few tasters for Just Say It my first pantser-style attempt at writing novel which I, finally, finished at the end of 2019. I have strung 95,000 words together in some semblance of order, so t has a beginning, a middle and an end. Whether it will be strong enough to clinch a deal and become my debut novel, only time will tell. If all else fails, there is another one in the pipeline. I may be a late starter, but you should never underestimate late-blooming Boomers, and I’m not done yet.
I’ve laughed and cried while writing it. Got pissed a couple of times writing the early drafts. And now, it’s time to break free and concentrate on the work-in-progress.
Shaping the life of my main character, Baby Boomer Lisa Grant and the relationship she has with her narcissist mother has been a learning curve. Trying to work out where she was going, and getting to know her better has, on the whole, been fun.
Here are a few tasters:
Into Exile – Lisa’s father starts a new life in Portugal
Mother-Daughter Spat – A Teenage Lisa Rebels
A Spark of a Flame – The moment Jack realises he is in love with Lisa
Fisticuffs at Fanny’s – the moment things go horribly wrong at Lisa’s 21st birthday party
Going the Wrong Way – When you realise what an idiot you’ve been… 38,000 feet above the Atlantic
Arthur’s Revenge – The reading of Lisa’s step-father’s Will
