It is all very well saying, plan your trip carefully as there is so much to do and see, as getting sidetracked and sometimes lost is all too easy!
For our April 2014 trip, we booked our flights and the hotel in January 2014, but start looking out for deals as far in advance as possible.
A way of spreading the cost is to buy an Explorer Pass before you go. Having pre-paid passes to some of the attractions also means that you don’t have to queue quite as much. We could not second guess how much we were likely to see and do in a day and/or how long it would take us to get from a to b. So we pre-paid five attractions, the Zephyr Statue of Liberty Cruise, the 911 Memorial Gardens, the Pulse Exhibition, the On Location Tours and the Empire State Building, all of which we achieved with no problem.
Choosing what show on Broadway to see is extremely difficult! We decided on Matilda and purchased the tickets online in February 2014.
We had five nights in New York, effectively four and a half days. We constantly got side tracked, did things on impulse, as well as walking for miles and had a fantastic time.
