JUST SAY IT!

Just Say It is the bittersweet story of journalist Lisa Grant’s life and the turbulent relationship she has with her narcissist mother, Elizabeth.

Despite her mother’s appalling behaviour over the years,  there has always been a question niggling away at the back of  Lisa’s mind.  Why is her mother incapable of showing love or displaying even a modicum of affection?  When Lisa finds happiness in her forties, she decides to harness her journalistic skills and find out more about her mother’s past and is shocked by what she finds.

Now Lisa knows the truth, can she forgive Elizabeth for her appalling behaviour over the years?  If so, can she complete that absolution, and find it in her heart to love her mother?

I started writing Just Say It after being made redundant in June 2015. The story had been whirring around in my head for years. I’d made a half-hearted effort to get it onto paper years ago, but life kept getting in the way.  A poor excuse really, if you are serious about writing.

Writing a book is the easy part. Honing the and editing it is excruciatingly hard. Recently, Just Say It, along with my flagging confidence, has recently been given a boost.  Melissa Levine of Red Pen Editing has edited the manuscript, and Lawrence French, an editor/proofreader from Bristol, offered to read it. Individually, they both gave me some tremendous feedback, for which I am enormously grateful. There is still much work to be done, but armed with their combined input, I am more determined than ever to get my firstborn novel into print. 🤞
