Sometimes fate introduces you to someone in a heartbeat. You don't have time to cultivate an enduring friendship, but that person still leaves a lasting impression and that person for me was my creative inspiration, Barbara Large.
I returned home with my head buzzing and lost all track of time, as I embarked on a wine-fuelled creative writing binge.
A Writers' Workout at Winchester University for me started on the 3rd November when I stayed the night on campus, rekindling my student days.
I'm in the process of editing the fifth re-write of my novel in progress so there is no better time to give it a kick up the plotline and I cannot think of any better way to stimulate my creative juices than to spend a day in the company of:
More recently I was lucky enough to have the first few thousand words of my second re-write critiqued by Lorna Fergusson of Fictionfire. It was a detailed evaluation and one that I benefitted from enormously. I am sure she sensed my plot was leading up to a saggy middle but, thanks to her fiery suggestions as to how the plot might go, I am confident that my middle is much less flabby.
It is amazing what a couple days spent with like minded people can do for you. I feel like like my system has been rebooted and I have had to find a bigger box for my writer's tools.
